In January of 1989, W.L. Higgins Elementary School, named for former superintendent of Chicota schools, opened its doors, providing the much needed space for growing North Lamar school district. Grades K - 2 from Everett Elementary moved into the new building designed especially for primary grades. Today Higgins Elementary is the home for students as young as three years of age. Early education, PPCD, pre-kindergarten, kindergarten, and 1st grade are now housed on the Higgins campus. Students from Higgins feed into the Cecil Everett Elementary campus as second graders. |
