Our Children are our future!
Stone Middle School Bands
The Stone Middle School Band program consists of approximately 250 students in grades six through eight. First year beginning band students are grouped in like-instrument classes that meet 45 minutes everyday. Beginning band students receive instruction in basic fundamentals of instrumental performance and basic ensemble skills. Seventh and eighth grade students are placed in one of three classes--Honor, Symphonic, and Concert Bands. These bands focus on more advanced indvidual and group performance skills and participate in several individual and group competitions throughout the school year to further enrich their musical experience.

Our goal is to assist all students in developing an understanding of and a life-long appreciation for music and its place in society and all cultures of the world. Band students develop personal skills of self-discipline, patience, diligence, and improved self-esteem through the study and performance of music. Also, participation in band helps students to develop group skills of cooperation, responsibility, dependability, and teamwork, which will enable them to succeed in other areas of school and further into the adult workplace.
