The profession of occupational therapy is concerned with a person's ability to participate in desired daily life activites or "occupations." In the school setting, occupational therapists use their unique knowledge to help children to prepare for and perform important learning and school-related activites to fulfill their role as students. Occupational therapists support acedemic outcomes. School-based occupational therapy is available for students who are eligible for special education. Occupational Therapists work with the educational team to determine what is needed for a student to receive a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. |
