Oral Language Development Program
Oral Language Development is a regular education program offered by North Lamar I.S.D. as an intervention plan. My class addresses Expressive (Communication) and Receptive (Listening) skills areas identified as a necessary component for success in school and readiness for reading.
My philosophy is that children learn best in an upbeat environment using games, songs, stories, computer activities, tapes, etc. We will work on listening skills (auditory working memory & auditory discrimination skills); develop letter-name association for uppercase & lowercase letters; practice Who, What, Why, When & How questions; word & sentence meaning; following directions; vocabulary ; letter writing; Brain Gym; Phonological accuracy & awareness ( identify different word sound from other initial & final sounds differences); Letter Sound association skills for consonants & consonant-vowel pair; Comprehension; Deleting Initial & Final sounds in words; putting chunks of letters together to make words; Rhyming; Phonemic Awareness ( segmentation of words in sentences; blending & segmentation & deletion of Syllables; identification, blending, segmentation, deletion, addition & manipulation of Phonemes ) Sight, Dolch & Spelling words and many stories using puppets, stuffed animals & figurines. Fun!Fun!Fun!

Each student that I work with has different individual needs therefore my program will be structured for each child’s strengths & weaknesses.

The Care Team Committee has recommended that your child participate in this program.
I will be working with your child in a group of 3-5 students averaging 3-4 times per week depending of field trips & special activities.

You are always welcome to visit our class. I am looking forward to a great time with your child!

If you have any questions feel free to call or e-mail kathymoseley@northlamar.net. or discuss with your child’s teacher or principal.
Your child will continue in this program until the Care Team decides to dismiss your child. I will send you a letter when you child is dismissed.
You will receive a progress report with your child’s report card every six weeks.
I will send home some fun activities to do with your child periodically.
