RULES AND PROCEDURES

Your child is going to be using the W.L. Higgins/Cecil Everett Libraries. They will be reading books at home and school.  Please keep a daily check on their reading progress. These first years of reading are very important.

Also, please help your child take really good care of their library books.

They need to observe the following book care rules:

** Keep books in a safe place, away from little brother or sister and pets.

** Have clean hands before you look at or read the book.

  ** Turn pages carefully.

** Use a bookmark to keep your place.

** Report any damaged book to your librarian.

** Carry your library book to school in your backpack or book bag (a baggy for rainy days could be a good idea).

Library Rules:

No Noise          Return Books on Time       Follow Directions and Be A Good Listener

Be Kind to Others and Books                    Use Shelf Marker Correctly

Your child will check out a book for ONE WEEK, although they may return the book before that time. If they do not return their book by the due date, they will owe a fine of 5 cents for each day the book is late, including weekends.
PLEASE HELP THEM TO REMEMBER TO RETURN THEIR BOOK TO THE LIBRARY ON TIME!
If a library book is lost or damaged beyond repair, it will have to be paid for.
A student may not check out a book until a late fine or replacement cost is paid.

I hope your child enjoys the library.  We try to make it an enjoyable place to visit.  Please help them remember all the rules.  Please help us by promoting the love of reading.
