SPRING CONTEST & FUND RAISER |
Choir students will soon have a chance to sell choir t-shirts to the public in order to help them start earning funds for their spring choir trips. The profit from each shirt your child sells will go to their trip fund. We will also have another fund raiser January 2-6 to give them another opportunity to earn money. Any money not raised in fund raisers will be your responsibility to pay.
The UIL Choirs (Girls Honor, Girls Varsity, and Boys Choirs) will compete in the Director's Choir Music Festival on Saturday, April 21. Students who attended the UIL Concert & Sight-Reading contest on Wednesday, April 11 will be eligible to attend the festival. After we sing at the contest, we will be going to Medieval Times in Dallas. Cost for the trip is $90, which includes festival entry fees and the Medieval Times ticket. More details on the trip as well as chaperone needs will be sent to you at a later date.
Parents of students in UIL choirs: If you choose not to participate in any of the fund raising activities, that is not a problem; however, please be aware that you will need to pay for the $90 fee yourself. The following payment plan may be used, or you may pay the entire fee at once:
November 18--$30 due
January 13--$30 due
March 1--$30 due

What is Honor Choir?
Girls Honor Choir is considered equal to Boys Choir, made up of 7th and 8th grade girls (mostly 7th grade), this group continues developing skills taught in Beginner Choir with more performance and competition opportunities. Although it is not considered our "Varsity" group, all 7th & 8th grade choirs compete in the same contests and take the same trips. We strive to foster an environment that allows all students to feel successful and valued no matter what class they are in. The main difference between the groups is the level of music performed. No student who is placed in Honor Choir should ever feel they are missing out on anything by not being in Varsity...it is just as much fun and goes just as many places...only with a little less pressure on the performers.
(Any Stone 7th or 8th grade student may join Honor Choir, even if they have not been in Beginner Choir in the 6th grade; however, they need to join at the BEGINNING of the school year. Joining late will put the student behind in learning vocal and sight-reading skills.) |
