Gifted and Talented Program
The Gifted and Talented Program at Everett Elementary offers students opportunities to experience intellectual challenge and accomplishment as well as delight in learning. Creative and critical thinking skills such as ; fluency, flexibility, originality, elaboration, compare and contrast, logic, relevant and irrelevant, facts and opinons, and cause and effect are used in the weekly GT classes.  Other skill include: research, computer, science experiments, math, art, drama, instant challenges, and projects for display in the hallways.
Upcoming Events
August 22, 2011 First day of school
August 29-September 2 First week of regular GT classes. Students will need to bring a spiral notebook to keep in the GT classroom.
October- Display of Research by 2nd and 3rd grade classes in hallway by cafeteria.
Nomination of students for GT
 November- Texas Future Problem Solving Activities
Testing of newly nominated students for GT .
TAGT Convention for teachers
Thanksgiving Break
December-
Continue testing of newly nominated students
Holiday Break
January-
Third Grade students will begin researching a country. They will present a Display Presentation sharing info gathered during the study. Dates and times will be announced later.
February- Nomination for students for GT program begins Parent nomination forms in office at Everett Nomination ends February 20, 2009
Third Grade students will continue researching and working on display presentation
March or April Display Presentation in cafeteria
April -Testing of newly nominated students Testing of third grade GT students May Assessment and committee meetings for newly nominated students.
Past Research Projects

Students research a topic then create a display board to support the topic. Students then present the research to second and third grade students.
